Hello, and welcome to my web site, dedicated to the Avro Vulcan Bomber.

The Vulcan was one of the 3 aircraft types that constituted the V-Force strategic nuclear deterent in the 1950's and 1960's and then subsequently had a major impact in the destruction of Port Stanley airfield during the Falklands War in the 80's.

Thankfully, the Vulcan never saw action in the form for which it was intended - as a nuclear strike force carrying the Yellow Sun hydrogen bomb or the Blue Steel standoff nuclear delivery system (and latterly, the scrapped American Skybolt missile). Being such a versatile platform, it was easily modified to carry and deliver conventional 'iron' bombs with superb accuracy (considering its relatively primative navigational systems), operating as a tanker (as the B.2(K) or K.2) or as the Maritime Reconaisance Role (B.2MRR) variant.

The aircraft was long lived, operating from its introduction to service in July 1956 until retirement of the last serving airframe in March 1984. The RAF continued to display a Vulcan until the retirement of XH558 and the Vulcan Display Flight in 1992.

This web site is not intended to be another picture archive. Its purpose is to detail the operational workings of the aircraft, from the crew's perspective, and to go into some depth about the equipment fitted to the flight deck, its purpose and operation.

I am also a collector of aviation artefacts, especially anything Vulcan, and have now massed quite a sizeable (literally) collection of parts and manuals. I also collect Control Grips from various jet era aircraft.

If you have anything to sell, please contact me by email, or if you require something for your collection, I may be able to help you source it. Feel free to email me.

Enjoy the site. It is NOT finished by any stretch of the immagination. Please feel free to comment or suggest improvements. I am not a web wizard and am learning 'how to' from the bottom up. If there are any inaccuracies in the text, please let me know.

Thank you for visiting.
